Apparently I’m feeling the need to blog at the moment…

After taking 3 efforts to update my Facebook status and still not entirely done, I’m realizing that what I really want to say can’t be micro-blogged. It needs the real thing.  :)

This is my status, as posted a few minutes ago:

Deb is wondering why the idea of having to sleep on the couch tonight is so annoying when I fall asleep there half the time anyway.

Deb is also wishing we’d had time to finish working on the basement today so that it would be possible to sleep in my own bed.

Deb is very glad that the basement no longer smells like cat pee.

And here’s what I didn’t want to inundate my Facebook friends with:

Deb is no longer sad about getting rid of the kitty who thought the laundry room was a litter box. Just wishing we’d done so sooner.

Deb is hoping that cat pee will wash out of things like coats and blankets. And off of things like pack-n-plays and bookshelves.

Deb is now wishing that we hadn’t stored so many things in the laundry room.

Deb is also glad that the mold is gone from the basement – even if it’s left a 6-inch gap at the bottom of the drywall in half of the room.

Deb is exhausted just by looking at the mountain of bins, boxes and – stuff, that needs to get put away in the basement. But looking forward to finally having everything done.

Deb is thinking that the idea of leaving the basement a mess with stuff strewn all over our bed down there and sleeping upstairs on the couch tonight sounded like a much better idea at 4:30pm when bedtime was hours away yet.

Deb is also stressed out at the idea of having houseguests and a birthday party in this house in two weeks.

Deb needs to make and send out invitations to said birthday party. Last week, preferably.

Deb is tired. Not sleepy, not worn out, just tired. And sad.

Deb is wondering why sitting down with a book seemed like a good idea tonight, when I had 1,001 other things that needed to get done.

Deb is remembering why I don’t sit down and read books straight through anymore. They pull you in too much that way. Especially emotional ones like Jodi Picoult’s.

Deb is wanting to never read a Jodi Picoult novel again…

…just as soon as I’m done reading the rest of them.  ;)

Which Jodi Picoult one got you down? I make that assertion every time I finish one.

Cat pee on clothes & blankets- if you have a washing machine with sanitary setting that usually works. If not, soak in Simple Green (undiluted) and wash at a hot a temp as you can – works – don’t ask me how I know, I’m trying to forget that part.

    I love Jodi Picoult books!!
But I do get sucked in and not get anything else done while reading them. Which one did you just read?

Years ago I had to get rid of a cat that used our carpet in the basement for a litter box. I tried tearing up the carpet and putting down tile but all that succeeded in doing was moving the cat from the basement to my dining room, right where the sun came in and really made the urine smell! I didn’t want to get rid of my cat, but I felt I had no choice. I know some may not like it, but she was put to sleep. She was too old and set in her way to be adopted. I wasn’t able to get her into one of the no kill places, but I’m glad I didn’t. She would have spent the rest of her life in a little cage and that would have been more sad than being put to sleep. Some day I hope to get another cat, but until then, we have the dog. I’m glad to hear you are not guilting yourself too much over your decision. Sometimes we just have to do things like that. It doesn’t mean we are bad people. ((HUGS!))
