Ron was home with the girls on Friday since our daycare had a half day off anyway, and the girls had all been sick during the week. On my way out of the door that morning, I mentioned offhand that it would be nice if he could throw some of the girls’ laundry in the wash since the hampers in both bedrooms were full to overflowing. I pretty much expected him to forget – whether deliberately or accidentally.
When I got home that night, he told me that he had a surprise for me in the living room. I walked in to find this:
This is pretty much all of the girls’ clothes. Clean ones.
Yes, he not only did their laundry – he did ALL of their laundry. And while it did need to get done, he then dumped everything on the couch because he needed the baskets. And because he doesn’t do folding and putting away – of his own clothes most of the time, much less the girls’.
And I thought I had a ‘mountain’ of laundry to fold last time! LOL
So that was how the pile looked on Friday night. And how it looked still on Saturday morning as well.
By Saturday afternoon, I’d tackled at least some of it…
However, you can see the addition of the full white hamper sitting on my couch – with even more clean clothes that Ron had brought upstairs that morning before he left for work.
On Sunday, I really got into the folding mode (with some help from the girls) and by last night the ‘mountain’ had been reduced to this:
But here on Monday night, there is still a remnant left – I just took this from where I’m sitting on the couch:
Part of the reason that I haven’t had Abby and Hannah finish putting their folded clothes away yet is because I discovered, once all of their clothes were clean at the same time, that bulky winter clothes don’t fit very well in their dressers. The bottoms of the (cheap) drawers are starting to fall out. I have a plan to try and come up with a different storage option for some of their clothes – they have a decent amount of currently wasted space under the bunk bed in their room and while I can’t afford to get a set of drawers made to go underneath there, I figure that plastic bins can serve the same purpose – once I find exactly what I want. I’ve looked at Target, Meijer and WalMart with no luck so far, but that’s something I want to tackle soon – maybe for next Tuesday.
So to finish off this week’s tackle, I need get the rest of the clothes, basket and hamper out of the living room and at least into the correct bedrooms. I should be able to manage at least that much!
I still haven’t decided if I’m glad that Ron tackled all the laundry at once or not though…

I laughed so hard at that first picture. calling that a “surprise” is pretty scary. Steve knows that it is helpful for him to carry the dirty laundry downstairs, or to put it into the washer or dryer. He has been told though NOT to take it out. It gets more wrinkled if he stuffs it into a basket to be folded at a later time.

LOL! The sad thing is that I really couldn’t complain because he never does the girls’ laundry on his own…

Oh my goodness – that was a lot of clean laundry. My husband is not allowed to go into the laundry room. Mainly because he insists on piling all of the dirty clothes on top of the washing machine (not even in a basket). Now tell me, how am I suppose to open up the washing machine to wash the dirty clothes with all the clothes on top of it.

Wow, I think I would take the ALL clean laundry over not doing anything at all. Even if it did take me a week to fold it
