Wow. Now THAT was a party.

I didn’t think it was possible. After last year’s Super Spy themed birthday party, I was thinking that there was no way that my friend Cheryl could outdo herself for DJ’s 7th birthday party. Even she didn’t think so – this was a line from an e-mail I got from her recently, “I was looking at the stuff I did last year and it was so much cleverer than anything I can find this year.”

Humph.

Now since I wasn’t yet blogging last year when we went to DJ’s 6th birthday party, I’m going to give you a very quick rundown on what his party entailed. Imagine 10-15 (can’t remember exactly how many) kids all outfitted in spy gear from dark sunglasses and toy magnifying glasses to black stocking caps and ‘disguises’ (including fake mustaches – I have some hilarious pictures), a mystery to solve that took them over the ocean (complete with plane ‘crash’ and stuffed dolphins to ’save’ them), defusing a ‘bomb’ (which was the most creative game of ‘hot potato’ that I think I’ve ever seen), and lots of rescued ‘gold’ at the end (Hershey’s gold-wrapped nuggets, of course). The entire party was true to the theme, and you could tell that Cheryl had a blast putting it all together.

Enter this year’s party. Now keep in mind that Cheryl also works full-time out of the house and has the two boys to look after when she gets home. And yet, somehow she found the time to design and build – Webkinz World.

In her basement.

They even got to be Dr. Quack’s Assistant (pin the hot water bottle on):

DJ got pretty close, with Hannah looking on (and Carlos making sure he wasn’t peeking…):

They got to visit the Wishing Well:

And even hunt for ‘gems’:

And what did they win?

Well, Kinzcash, of course! Cheryl had it all printed out in different denominations (see the W5 in the photo below). And they got to take their Kinzcash to the W Store and buy things. For the Lil’ Kinz that each kid got as a party favor.

Each kid was able to buy a cardboard box ‘room’ (complete with colored walls and carpet) and decorate it to his/her liking, choosing from all kinds of different things. Cheryl had made up beds, blankets, toys, even flower pots and ‘televisions’. The kids went crazy with their Kinzcash, and those cardboard box ‘rooms’ were decked out to the max by the time the party ended.

Here’s how Abby’s ‘room’ turned out, for her new kitty friend, “Misty” (after our cat):

And Hannah’s new doggie, Little Cute (as differentiated from Abby’s first Webkinz kitty, Lil’ Cute) tucked into her new bed:

And check out this birthday cake – pretty awesome!  :)

The girls had a blast, DJ got some very cool presents, and Cheryl gets to put her basement back together.  ;)   I was amazed at how ‘realistic’ she was able to make everything – Carlos even borrowed the ‘wheel’ for the Wheel of WOW from his work.

I am so very NOT creative. I don’t think I could’ve pulled this off even if I had thought of the idea. But if anyone wants to do a Webkinz-themed birthday party this year, I know who you can get excellent instructions and ideas from!  :)

Becca wouldn’t set foot in the basement, but she had a blast playing with the toys upstairs and ’sharing’ with DJ’s little brother Quinn. Although I about thought we were going to have a battle of wills between Becca and DJ over his two helium balloons – that little girl of mine is stubborn!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!! That is the coolest party ever.. and Having 3 big webkinz fans in my house.. I so wish I would have seen this post before there birthday.. Though I’m sure the 12 year old(even though she is the proud owner of 9 webkinz) would have passed on the webkinz party.. I’m sure either Mr Man(who turned 8 in November) or Sweet Pea(who turned 6 end of Febuary) would have loved to have this sort of party.. This is the coolest idea ever.. OH how i wish I could have done it for one of them this year.. Each of them are up to 10 webkinz now. Little Man’s birthday is next month but he could care less about Webkinz he is all about Thomas the tank or Veggie tails :)

What a great idea for a party! I may have to keep the spy party idea in mind for next year too. My boys haven’t really gotten on the Webkinz band wagon yet.
