So there’s an interesting title for you, huh! Well, it happens that I’m tackling two entirely separate things and wanted to include both for today.
First of all, I had the chance the other night to work more on the flowerbed in our front yard, between our front porch and front walk. You can see the initial tackle to see what the ‘before’ looked like, but here’s a reminder of the ‘in-between’:
I finally got the entire area weeded (and re-weeded in the case of the part that I’d done a couple of weeks ago). I was able to rake up and really get the soil nice and loose – and I also planted the box of Sweet Alyssum seeds that I’d bought. I put them in the middle of the area – on the insides of the two outer clumps of phlox. After I see how they do, I’ll figure out what else to plant on the outer edges. I’m thinking maybe a hydrangea or two – Kristi’s new ones are rather pretty and apparently they’ll flower all summer long, which I’d love right there.
Here’s some pictures of how it looks right now! Sorry these are a bit dark – I didn’t finish up until just right about dusk…
The other half of this week’s tackle is why I’ll probably be scarce for most of today. With everything that’s been going on with my mom, I decided that I need to take the day and drive over to see her. It means taking yet another day off from work (this time unpaid), but I need to go and be there to see how she’s doing and keep her company, at least for a day. The girls made cards for her that I’ll take with me – I know she’ll like those.
She’s supposed to be out of the ICU now (finally!) and into a regular room, but I know she was having difficulty eating yesterday and they wanted to run a test this morning to see if the intubation had caused problems with her swallowing. So hopefully they’ll have the results back from that by the time I get there and I’ll get a chance to talk to the doctors to see exactly what’s going on.
It’s a 2-hour drive, so I’m heading out as soon as I post this and should be gone all day. Our daycare provider is going to drop the girls off at home later on tonight and our neighbor’s daughter ‘A’ is going to babysit. She’s only 11, but very responsible and the girls love her. Plus one of her parents will be home across the street at all times. So hopefully that will go well.
I’m bringing my laptop with me, but don’t know if I’ll have the chance to get online much – I’ll try to update if/when I can.
Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!
