After last week’s giant tackle, you would think that there was nothing left to work on for this week, right?
Add in houseguests for 5 days and the clean house definitely takes a hit. We were so busy that I just didn’t have time for any kind of housekeeping.
I suppose then that it’s kind of handy that I am actually home during the week now, so I can get my house back in somewhat decent shape – and on an actual Tuesday for once even.
So far today I’ve tackled getting Abby and Hannah to their summer program – and I took Becca to her first-ever laptime program at the library.
She wasn’t terribly impressed. We lasted about 10 minutes before I decided to let her just play with the train table and other things that she’s used to at the library. We’ll try again next week and see if we can make it through more of the story.
When we got home a little while ago, I took one look at my kitchen floor – which hadn’t been swept since Mary and the kids arrived on Thursday, and decided that it couldn’t wait any longer:
So I broke down, put a Backyardigans episode on for Becca, and pulled out the broom.
Ahhh… Much better! Such a simple thing, but it makes such a huge difference.
You may be wondering why I had to give in and let Becca watch tv while I was tackling the kitchen floor… That would be because after 5 days of kids playing in it – her room looks like this:
It’s hard enough to walk through, much less play in, at the moment! This is my tackle for the rest of the day – trying to get her room back into some kind of order. Which will include going through all of the toys and deciding which ones she’s outgrown and can therefore go in the ‘future garage sale’ pile, and which can be moved downstairs to the basement playroom. My goal is to get everything sorted through by the end of the day.
I didn’t get a chance to post pictures last night – but I did get Becca’s room cleaned and sorted through. I have 3 piles of ‘baby’ books that will be included in our next garage sale, as well as a few toys. It’s nice to be able to walk through her room without it being an obstacle course…
Next up will be the never-ending saga of trying to organize Abby and Hannah’s room…

My kids’ rooms look like that with or without visitors… which we just had for 5 days like you.
Just wanted to let you know I unsubscribed to email updates because finally, after a year, I started using RSS feeds (and subscribed that way). I hate getting those “so and so has unsubscribed” emails!

Wow! You were talking about needing to clean your floor, but all I could think when I saw your pictures was, “What???? How come HER chairs aren’t completely encrusted with oatmeal, fingerpaint, playdough and gum????” Looks good to me!
