Just some quick links and fun stuff I found around the web this week:
First off, please don’t forget to enter my current giveaways over on my other site:
- An Oral-B® Triumph™ with SmartGuide™ toothbrush (enter by 11:59 pm EST on January 25th).
- A Pookie Poncho, courtesy of Mom Fuse (enter by 11:59 pm EST on January 28th).
- A $50 gift certificate to Tiny Prints (enter by 11:59 pm EST on January 30th).
- A soccer ball-shaped USB reader, courtesy of Footbo.com (enter by 11:59 pm EST on January 31st).
This week’s reviews were for the book Rebel in Blue Jeans, Special K crackers, kitchenware from Recycline Preserve, and the Clare book series for young adults.
Other new posts this week include a heads-up about Qlubb’s new 30-day calendar view, and health news for Moms.
There are more fun giveaways coming next week too, so stay tuned (and subscribed)…
This week’s Contest Round-Up is up over at the other site as well. And don’t forget to check the Contests page during the week – there are some pretty awesome giveaways happening around the blogosphere so you don’t want to miss out on your chance to enter any of them!
Some interesting posts I read this week on other sites include:
- Check out the beautiful handbag that Summer from Summer’s Nook crocheted! And she even includes the pattern – if it didn’t hurt my hands so much to crochet nowadays, I’d give it a try.
- Over at 5 Minutes For Mom, there’s a new weekly meme where you can highlight the people who leave you comments on a regular basis. And check out who’s featured in their very first week…
- Thea over at I’m A Drama Mama posted something that anyone with a 3-year-old should read and take to heart. Believe me, I did.
- Problogger posted a list of 21 Ways to Write Posts That Are Guaranteed to Grow Your Blog – some good advice there!
- If you’re thinking of starting a blog, check out this post on Choosing A Blogging Platform over at Blogging Basics 101. And she’s continued the series with Using Blogger (Blogspot) as Your Blogging Platform.
- Blogging Tips posted about a very useful WordPress plug-in called Photo Dropper. This is actually a plug-in that I’ve used for quite a while too – it’s a great way to search for Creative Commons licensed photos that you can use in your blog posts. And it even helpfully drops the attribution right into your post as well. Too easy! They’ve also published the third part to their How to blog on a (very small) budget series, on Marketing Your Blog.
- I’m determined to make it to BlogHer in Chicago this summer, and have been starting the search for sponsors to help with the cost. If you’re not sure where to start or how to contact companies about sponsoring you to a blogging conference, you can’t miss Stephanie’s Simple Tips For Getting Sponsorships over at Adventures in Babywearing.
By the way, if you’re looking for a great way to promote a product and are interested in helping sponsor me for BlogHer, please drop me an e-mail and we can chat about it!
This weekend is all about Becca’s birthday party and recovering from it afterward. Hope you all have a great weekend!
