Random complaints (and a tackle or two)…

Don’t mind me – I’m just here for a bit of venting. Read on or ignore as you wish…  :)

First off, I am FRUSTRATED with myself for tripping over the concrete step in the garage this afternoon and stubbing the second toe on my right foot which is currently at a medium throb level of pain. I don’t know if it’s broken or just severely bruised, but either way it’s driving me crazy and making it hard to concentrate on anything else.

Second, I am YEARNING to get back on the ‘big’ computer so I can search out more family tree information. It’s like hitting a gold mine after years of dry spells – I’ve searched before but must not have been doing it right or something, because the amount of information falling in my lap right now is flabbergasting. But it’s addicting because once you start adding people to your tree, it never ends. There’s always parents and spouses and siblings to add – and then their parents and spouses and siblings… My poor kids were quite ignored yesterday since I can only do my searching and entering while Ron’s not home. We’ve added about 700 new people into the overall tree in the past few days though, between the two of us. Part of today’s tackle will be to balance my time so that the kids are still getting the attention they need and deserve.  Not that they seem to mind at all – both Abby and Hannah are still devouring library books almost faster than we can replace them, even with hitting the library twice a week.  ;)

Third, I am EXCITED about BlogHer coming up next week but STRESSED over everything I have to get figured out and put in place beforehand. Like finding someone to watch the kids for those days at the last minute, since Ron never requested them off – another thing to work on tackling today.

Fourth, I am WORRIED about job hunting and the lack of anything out there that I’m even qualified to apply for. But I am THANKFUL for another extension to unemployment that will take us through the rest of the summer and into fall. Another portion of my tackle for today will be to update my online resume and make a stop into the local job office.

Fifth, I wish I could figure out what’s going on with Abby lately as far as bedtime goes. She’s been up close to or past midnight every night, and seems to freak out unless she’s got two nightlights and the bathroom light on. Or if she can’t talk to and say good night to either Ron or I if one of us isn’t home at bedtime. I went to the store a couple of nights ago and Abby would (or could) not settle down for bed until I’d gotten home to give her hugs and kisses. Right now it’s almost 11pm and she’s still awake… And sobbing… What she’ll do when I’m gone for 3 nights next week – and how Ron will handle her (because he tends to go right to yelling) is something I’m kind of DREADING.

Have I mentioned that I’m getting quite TIRED of being the only person in this house to pick up the junk that gets scattered and left on the floors every single day? Right now as I look around the living room, it’s not too bad – but I still see a pair of shorts, a hat, a book, a bracelet, an empty bowl, a ball, a scrap of paper and Abby’s craft bin on the floor. None of which are mine, so I don’t think I should be the one who needs to deal with them all. But I will be – because nobody else cares if they get put away or not. And that’s just the living room. More tackling…

I’m also CRAVING something sweet at the moment, but having already changed into my pajamas, I’m not willing to put clothes back on and head out to the store. Maybe if I just concentrate hard enough, chocolate will just fall from the sky into my lap…  Nope, no luck there. Oh well.  ;)

Ok, the whine-fest is over now.  Or almost, anyway.

Mmmmmyyyyy   ttttooooooeeeee    hhhhhuuuuurrrrrrrtttttttsssss……..

Yep, now I feel a bit better.  :)

I’m with you on so many of these.
-The hubs too is still searching frantically for work. He’s probably turned in a good 20 resumes with not even a nibble. Very frustrating and scary at the same time.
-Your house sounds way more picked up than mine and 90% of it is someone elses stuff. Sigh! Hugs to you and hope your toe gets better. We can’t have you hobbling around at BlogHer. :)

Chocolate sounds really good right now. But I am not in the mood to drive 6 miles into town to one of the few stores even open – Wal-Mart.

Definitely not easy finding a job these days. Been trying for months without any success. There is something to be said for self-employment.

    Wishing you a scent-sational Tuesday!

Sorry about the toe. Hope it’s not broken.

I have been doing genealogy since 1967 and is the only “hobby” I’ve never gotten tired of. It is more like an addiction. Ancestry.com is an amazing site. So much information is online now. Sure beats the old days of tramping through courthouses and cemeteries!

Geez Deb, what are we, Internet Twins? I posted on Table for Five the other day about smacking my toe against the wooden bedframe and how much it hurt and omg my toe and owwwww.

So you have my sympathy on that one. Ron didn’t take time off for BlogHer? Yikes!

Poor Abby. Nathan went through a night terrors phase that was so frustrating. I hope Abby gets past this soon.

I’m so sorry that Abby is having a hard time going to bed. Maybe it’s a phase? In any case, she’ll have to fall asleep eventually, right? Hope you have a great time at BlogHer!
