Aloha Friday #108

AlohaFridayIt’s Friday again! My favorite day of the week. :)

Here’s my question for this week:

Do you know how to swim? If so, have you ever taken formal swimming lessons?

I’ve got swimming on the mind (I know – odd in November), because we failed to sign the girls up for lessons this past summer for the first time since Abby turned 3. It’s been a strict rule of ours that they must take swimming lessons every year (which they love anyway) at least until they’re totally comfortable in the water in all situations. With a pool next door and a lake right behind us, we just don’t want to take any chances. This year though, somehow I missed the signups for lessons so I was planning to do Saturday lessons this fall, after soccer ended. The first class was on Halloween, and with 2 sick kids at the time, I missed those signups too. So now I guess we’ll wait until after the holidays and try again in January.

Be sure to check out An Island Life for other fun Aloha Friday questions and to play along!

My three kids are in lessons right now, to be finished next week. Swimming lessons is really important in our home too, we live in a town with a river and gravel pit quarries, so like you they need to know the skills

I didn’t learn how to swim until I took lessons in college. I plan to get my 2 year old daughter lessons this spring.

I know how to swim and so do my siblings…none of us have ever had swim lessons. Evan does really well in the water and I think he’ll catch on this coming summer. We have a pool and go to the lake a lot so there is a lot of practice.

I fell in once when I was younger and my aunt was right there but let me figure it out myself…from that day on I could swim.

We are in Florida, and my grandparent’s have always had a pool or lived on a lake, and our neighborhood had a community pool, so me and my four sibling’s knew how to swim from a very early age. Swimming is still my favorite summer activity.

As far as my girls, my oldest was in a pool from when she was a baby, and is a great swimmer now. My youngest, who is 15 months, loves the water, and we will probably sign her up for lessons next summer.

I didn’t ever take formal lessons however I was on my hs swim team (& lettered!) & then I became a life guard & taught for several years. Yes, my children have had formal training.

I’m not a strong swimmer or a fast swimmer. It’s been many years since I took a swim class in college. I got sick and dropped out of school, or I would have continued with swim classes. It’s something I’ve regretted often.

Yes, I can swim. I had swimming in gym class growing up. My son took lessons this past summer and will continue to take lessons.
