So who am I?

I’m Deb. I am 45 years young. And I am a mom, first and foremost. I have 3 daughters who are the joy of my life.

Abbi is 15 and a high school sophomore. She loves art, music, writing, and is a self-proclaimed ‘fangirl’ of Marvel, the Night at the Museum movies, Dr. Who, and BBC’s Merlin and Sherlock. She plays the clarinet in the varsity marching band. Abbi is a unique personality who lives life to the fullest.

Hannah is 13, in eighth grade. She plays the flute and also loves soccer, books, writing, art, animals and all things Harry Potter or Percy Jackson related. She is also a Marvel and Star Wars fangirl. Hannah is also a cancer survivor – she had a very rare soft tissue sarcoma, called Infantile Hemangiopericytoma. It was originally discovered on her knee in 2013 and then spread to her lung in 2014. She underwent 10 months of chemotherapy in 2015 and has been NED (No Evidence of Disease) since.

Becca is 10 and in fifth grade. She loves to read, draw and play Skylanders.  She also likes Shopkins, My Little Pony and Star Wars.

My husband’s name is Ron, and he works in the IT field for a cable contracting company. He’s also a former graphic designer who loves football (especially the Detroit Lions), computer programming, working on finding new things out about his family tree – and most of all, his family. We also have a dog (Tessa) and two cats (Snuggly and Maddie).

I’ve been an avid reader all my life, and still squeeze in as many books as I can find the time to read. I also love to knit, listen to podcasts, watch tv, and most of all to spend time with my family. In 2014, I began running and have completed quite a few 5Ks. In 2016 I hope to tackle my first 10K.

My previous work experience was in city planning and GIS, and I dabbled a bit in part-time computer instruction as well.  Until the summer of 2008, I worked full-time out of the house as a GIS Analyst – now I work from home for the travel website TravelingMom.com.

I have been fortunate enough to be invited to the headquarters of Campbell’s (January 2009), Stouffer’s (April 2009) and General Mills (Eat & Greet – August 2009) to participate in blogging events, learn more about these products and companies and share my own thoughts and ideas as well. I love being able to travel, and have met some amazing people through these events – PR folks, other bloggers, and company representatives. In August of 2010, I was one of a select number of bloggers who had the opportunity to visit San Diego, CA and test drive the new 2011 Honda Odyssey and share about it with my readers. And my older daughters and I attended the Crayola Pop Art Pixies VIP Launch Event in New York City in November of 2010. I’ve also attended blogging conferences as well – at BlogHer 2009 in Chicago and 2010 in New York, the first Brands and Bloggers Summit from Midwest Moms Media in Chicago in August 2011, and also the local Gleek Retreat in West Olive, MI in May of 2010 and 2011. I’ve truly enjoyed every moment of these experiences and am always looking for ways to improve myself, my writing and my blogs.

You can also find me over at TravelingMom.com – I write about travel from the perspective of a mom of teen and tween daughters whose travel opportunities nowadays consist mostly of chaperoning my girls’ activities and events as well as a ‘momcologist’ caregiver for a child with cancer.

I am a daughter, a wife, a mom and a girl who’s still trying to sort out her place in this world. Come and join me – we’ll work on it together. 🙂

Hi Deb, great writeup and what darling girls. I have a question that am not sure anyone on earth can answer, since we have been searching for months for this product. For a long time, we have eaten the Fiber Gourmet pasta, and it’s very high in fiber and low in calories. Then they started having trouble in their manufacturing and now the spaghetti is gooey and thick, nothing like real spaghetti. Finally, I through intense search Ronzini spaghetti150 and it was PERFECT. Only 150 calories and 15 grams of fiber for a serving and I thought our problem was solved. …… well, now we can’t get any of it ANYWHERE, phone call, web visits, emails, nothing gets an answer and the way online is pathetic. The add online says Walmart has it and only has it in the stores, it cannot be shipped, but none of the Walmart stores in the US carry it on their shelves….. I have tried placed that handle Ronzini and the company says not able to ship. I was able ONCE to get a case of the spaghetti but no more. Do you know of anyone on this planet that can get me the spaghetti150 by the case? My daughter and I eat quite a bit, I have kept off my weight using this pasta, and and very disappointed. I would be so grateful to contact a real, live Ronzoni person, and the outlets and other companies say they do, but just try and get some, impossible!!!! Thank you for any advice or intervention in this.
