I participated in this program on behalf of ConAgra Foods and The Motherhood and received a stipend doing so. All opinions stated here are 100% my own or those of my family, as always.
Putting a meal on the table for our kids is one of the most basic things that we do as parents – but for many parents out there, just that simple act of feeding our kids isn’t so simple. According to the USDA, one in five children in the US (including more than one in four Latino children) doesn’t necessarily know where their next meal is coming from. That’s at least five kids in a typical classroom these days (figuring on 25 kids/class) – who don’t have regular meals at home! A total of nearly 16 million kids…
As a mom, I can’t help but feel that there’s more we can do to help these families. My own family has struggled financially in the past (to the point of accepting assistance from government and charitable programs) but while it was a short-term need for us, there are so many for whom putting enough food on the table is a never-ending challenge. Chronically hungry kids aren’t able to grow, play and learn like they should – like they deserve to. And that’s just plain not right.
I’m always glad to see when companies help out with causes like this, so was thrilled to learn that ConAgra has teamed up with P&G on the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign – whose purpose is to build a community of people to make a difference and help donate up to 7 million meals through FeedingAmerica.
How can I get involved?
Enter Codes to Trigger Donations. It’s easy to make a difference: Look for the red pushpin on participating product packaging for a code found on these specially marked ConAgra Foods and P&G products. For each 8-digit code entered at www.ChildHungerEndsHere.com through August 2014, ConAgra Foods or P&G, respectively, will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America.
It is so easy to help out – and you can save money on favorite brands along the way too. Plus, if you’ve got a Meijer nearby, here are some great deals running during May 2014 that you can take advantage of on ConAgra and P&G products eligible for a Child Hunger Ends Here code entry:

And here’s something you can do TODAY to help as well! Multiple GRAMMY-nominee Hunter Hayes has teamed up with ConAgra for the 24 Hour Road Race to End Child Hunger, to help end child hunger while also attempting to break the Guinness World Record for ‘Most Concerts Played in multiple cities in a 24-hour period’ (currently eight shows in 24 hours set by the Flaming Lips who broke the previous record made by Jay-Z) by playing 10 shows in 10 cities in 24 hours.
The 24-Hour Road Race to End Child Hunger kicked off today (May 9, 2014) and is running through 8am tomorrow (May 10, 2014) – help break a record for the most meals donated in a 24-hour period! Tonight is my regular grocery shopping night, so I’ll be on the lookout for the great Meijer deals and checking for the red pushpin logo on as many items as I can to help out and do my part. A lot of these are products I normally buy anyway – Snack Pack puddings, Healthy Choice meals, Orville Redenbacher popcorn… I love knowing that I’m helping other families while buying products to feed my own.
